The Japanese Popstars have a reputation for working a crowd, and this live album proves it as they work up an impressive head of steam, helped by an appreciative crowd that drive them on to ever greater heights. With each set of dirty beats, or acidic synth stabs, they work in analogue and digital really well, keeping a pounding house beat and driving bass line to the fore. Tracks like ‘Facemelt’ and ‘Catapult’ work particularly well in the live setting, though to get the full effect and power of this you really need to hear it the whole way through.
