Max Richter

Max Richter is a figure whose sound appears to draw heavily from the semi-classical film scores of Philip Glass, but becomes his own through the addition of subtle electronics and techniques that Glass wouldn’t have used. It’s very atmospheric, sometimes given a strongly Eastern European flavour, and is perfect late night chillout material. Some of the pieces build dramatically, particularly ‘Sarajevo’, ‘Landscape With Figure’ and the full orchestral rush of ‘Last Days’, while others are more introverted, preferring to spin their loops quietly. Either way this is exquisitely written music, ideal for those looking for a comedown, down tempo album.
