2020 Soundsystem
Falling
2020

Another one I’ve been caning but omitting to review when it comes to deadline madness. Unforgivable as it’s one of the albums of the year, consolidating the outfit’s huge success as a top global live attraction and, crucially, managing to channel that essence onto record. Their debut, No Order, featured a bevy of guest singers, and this follow-up nearly went the same way, but that idea was scrapped in favour of keeping it in the family. The result is a heady blend of sublime grooves, powerful songs and live highlights like ’Bisco’, plus atmospheric pieces like ’Dark Matter’ and further departures like ’A Way Of Life’. The rise of the 2020 Soundsystem after the establishment of the label as one of the best passion-driven house imprints in the world means the only way for this stellar crew is up.
