After releasing nine album with the late, lamented F Communications, Finland’s Jori striked out on tu7rbo with his tenth – a collection of mainly 12” material so therefore a more pronounced floor-friendly flavour. The set is a panoramic garden of unearthly delights containing all his trademark innovations, twists and interstellar melodies along with some booting grooves. Having said that, it kicks off with an electronic ballad called ‘I Am Dead’, created with Jerry Valuri while Villa Nah adds moody vocal to ‘Re; Last Year’. Elsewhere, his beloved is given free rein [in an orchestral setting on the stunning ‘Boying In The Smokeroom’ and joining the bomber drone ambience of ‘Undercover’], while ‘I Dance To Your Bass’ speaks for itself before majestic, emotional and old school NY-resonating ‘Ridge Over Troubled Forrester’. There’s a glacial, clanking acid-throbber called ‘Bend Over Beethoven’ so he’s obviously having some puntastic fun in the bargain on an album which displays innate musical knowledge, an inimitable style of delivery and killer dancefloor suss.
