An extremely well crafted album, this, with Jack De Marseille showing an impressive command of sound throughout. The style is a kind of house-techno hybrid, with more processed electronic passages giving way to warmer climbs of a more Balearic feel. ‘Voie Celeste’ is especially good at doing this, as is the darkly atmospheric ‘Echospace’, while the opening ‘So Lovely’ builds impressively through the gears. De Marseille has perfected the knack of making very danceable rhythms out of seemingly minimal material, which gives him plenty of room to work some magic with the chords and subtle riffs that he brings in. Add a bit of structure and you have a cleverly constructed album that lives and breathes with its listener. Worth seeking out for late nights.
