Hot Chip, the 10cc of modern electronic pop, bounce back on to the world stage in February, with a new eagerly awaited album and tour. In the meantime they are set to release the title track of the forthcoming LP “One Life Stand” as a single, and it’s definitely a tune that makes you want more. Built around early house rhythms, cute and simple keyboard riffs, plus a sprinkling of steel drums, “One Life Stand” soon develops into that distinctive Hot Chip sound, with those charming vocals that warm the cockles of your heart. Before you know it you’ll be singing along & ordering your gig tickets. “One Life Stand” comes flipped with an epic Carl Craig remix, featuring tweaking acid lines over driving techno rhythms, a bit like a runaway train speeding through mountainous tunnels, as different hooky riffs drop in and out of the mix. After about 6 minutes the vocals take the lead over a stripped back groove, before it all builds up again to a juddering crescendo. Be prepared for a senses overload. The boys are back in town.
