If ever a band were made to soundtrack the current snowy weather, it’s Husky Rescue, and with their third and best album so far it’s to be hoped they will get the recognition they deserve. ‘Ship Of Light’ shimmers like stars against the night sky, with icy cool textures and vocals that aren’t a million miles away from The Cardigans’ Nina Persson. On this album the production has stepped up a further notch, with clever orchestration evident in the ghostly harmonics that open ‘Man Of Stone’, the striking textures applied to ‘We Shall Burn Bright’, or the subtle electronica that winds around Anja Oyen Vister’s gorgeous voice. ‘Beautiful My Monster’, the album’s closer, is uplifting in a strange, unexplainable way – which kind of sums up the album. A beautifully sculpted treat for those long winter evenings.
