A month on from Gramophonedzie’s highly addictive homage of Peggy Lee’s famous take on the Kansas Joe McCoy blues standard, ‘Why Don’t You Do Right?’, comes get another cover of perhaps Ms Lee’s best known recording, ‘Fever’; itself a cover of Sarah Vaughan’s 50+ year old stand. As with break beat general Adam Freeland’s restyling of the original a few years ago, some the purist amongst you might consider the update sacrilege, but with a house back-beat and a jazz vibe this contemporary hybrid works extremely well in the current climate making it the logical successor to Gramophonedzie daytime radio hit.
