Back To Mine with Denis Jones

Wu Fei (吴非) – Cloud of Birds

I cant remember how i found this track, but it reminded me of a trip to China and my first direct experience of the musical culture there.

Spank Rock – Rick Rubin

Growing up with much of Rick Rubin’s music as a youth, i think this is an amazing and unusual doth of the cap to the big man in true Spank Rock style.

Buke and Gase – Hiccup

A duo of musical genius where they build and play there own instruments. Still my favourite song of theres best seen live.

Buke and Gase - "Hiccup"

Alva Noto – FUNKbugFX

This is the track that inspired me to write Conception, Consumption and Radiation off my second record. Still a staple in my house.

LP Skulls – Black Slavery Day

Hands down one of my most played reggae and dub records. This is the title track.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer – Eruption

The first album i ever engaged with as a very young child. It has been engrained on my psyche to this day. Thunderous.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer - ERUPTION (Tarkus)

Aphex Twin – XMAS_EVET10 (live in 2010, aka the “Metz Track”)

I played this live track from Metz festival on youtube for a good few years until it was finally released on a studio record on the album Syro in 2014. Glad i don’t have to play it off youtube anymore.

Funkstörung – Appetite for Distruction

Way ahead of there time Funkstörung totally nailed it with this album. Again the title track gives a great example of what the rest of the album has to offer. Timeless.

Count Ossie & Mystic Revelation of Rastafari – Bongo Man

Wonky, live and full of heart. Count Ossie takes the mind to the mountains with this instrumental.

Mike Coykendall – Mr. Fly

Simply a wonderful piece of song writing, with some subtle points of production to take it beyond the standard guitar and vocal acoustic track.
