Back To Mine with Dee Montero

1. NILS FRAHM – TALSIMAN

Moody and cinematic. I was lucky enough to see his live performance in Singapore a few years ago. Mind-blowing!

2. JOSE PADILLA – ON THE ROAD

RIP Jose. I remember listening to his Cafe Del Mar Vol. 1 compilation during my formative years smoking joints and dreaming of Ibiza sunsets. This is one of my favourites from his last album co-produced with Tornado Wallace on International Feel.

Jose Padilla - On The Road

3. GLOBAL COMMUNICATION – 8:07

These 90’s ambient works from Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard are truly timeless. This particular track is a nod to Tangerine Dream’s ‘Love On A Real Train’ and if you haven’t listened to the whole album ’76:14’ now is the time.

Global Communication - 07 - 8:07

4. LINDSTROM – THE LONG WAY HOME

15 minutes of Norwegian balearic magic with hints of Pat Methany and Brian Eno.

Lindstrøm - The Long Way Home

5. SEBASTIEN TELLIER – LA RITOURNELLE

A 21st century symphonic masterpiece which soundtracked my Ibiza summer of 2005.

Sébastien Tellier - La Ritournelle (Official Audio)

6. THE CURE – LULLABY (EXTENDED MIX)

So many great memories growing up in the 80’s listening to bands like Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears and of course The Cure.

The Cure - Lullaby (Extended Remix)

7. PEPE BRADOCK – DEEP BURNT

Deep house at its finest from another French producer, beautiful chords and impeccable arrangement. I’ve had this on rotation at countless after-parties over the years.

Pepe Bradock - Deep Burnt

8. DONNY HATHAWAY – SOMEDAY WE’LL ALL BE FREE

Powerful song and still relevant than ever.

Someday We'll All Be Free

9. PIONAL – XME (A Quiet Ceremony Mix)

A beautiful slo-mo trancey groover with a lush sparkly lead gliding throughout. A perfect twilight mood-setter.

Premiere: Pional - XME (A Quiet Ceremony Mix) [Phonica Records]

10. DEE MONTERO – ARIA (AMBIENT MIX) (FUTURESCOPE)

I made the original mix last year for my Burning Man sets, this ambient version can also be enjoyed in the comforts of your own home.

Dee Montero - Aria (Ambient Mix) [FUTURESCOPE]

Dee Montero – Meridian (incl. Patrice Baumel Remix) (Futurescope)

Following the wide-ranging success of Dee Montero’s singles ‘Sapphire’ and ‘Aria’, the moody and magnificent ‘Meridian’ pushes the musical boundaries yet again and seals the forward-thinking labels identity as a quality stable of fine music. The label’s musical ethos is bound to its core with the past, present and future sound of dance music interpreted and embodied in the DNA of every release and it’s clear ‘Meridian’ reflects this exact ethos. ‘Meridian’ offers up glistening melodic waves, sweeping pads underneath harmonising delightfully with pulsating synths and vibrant percussion that rolls throughout. The renowned German audiovisual artist, DJ and producer, Patrice Baumel’s remix of ‘Meridian’ is up next which features cosmic and ethereal sonics, uplifting atmospheres and undulating euphoria that pulsate beautifully together. Also featured on the EP is the sublime and dreamy ‘Bridges’, showcasing the haunting vocals of Bali-based Laura Freedland making her debut over the arpeggio-led melodies and hypnotic rhythm taking the journey to another dimension. Looking down the line, further projects are in the works that build on Futurescope’s musical aesthetic: it’s little wonder that certain tastemakers are already raving about the next wave of trailblazing soundscapes due for release under Montero’s vision. Dee Montero ‘Meridian’ is out via Futurescope on 4th December 2020 (Beatport) and 11th December 2020 (All Stores).
