Back To Mine with Jonas Saalbach

Jonas Saalbach makes dreamy, trance-inducing electronica, the likes of which – cheap cliches aside- really do ‘transport the listener to another place’. A producer of considerable repute, his repertoire is also decidedly diverse — which makes him a wonderful candidate for a Back 2 Mine offering. What’s more, Jonas’ latest LP, Headlights, is out now too. Here’s some of his choicest cuts…and not a bad list we’re sure you’ll agree!

Burial – New Dear

The album untrue by Burial was a milestone in electronic music for me. The minimalist way of creating atmosphere and Bruial’s drum work are incredibly unique. I love this kind of melancholic music.

Boozoo Bajou – YMA

I listened to this album countless times with my friends when we came back from parties. From the first rhodes sample, gravity pushes you into the sofa.

Sascha Funke – Mango

Mango is a real classic for me and could not be missing at any after hour ten years ago. The emotion of this song I still find remarkable.

Bonobo – Silver

‘Silver’ is taken from Bonobo’s album Animal Magic and in my opinion one of his best. I often tried to imitate this ingenious drum pattern when I was still producing HipHop – unfortunately without success. Maybe I should try it again nowadays.

Deru – Let the Silence Float

1979′ is an insanely cleverly produced album and i love to put this record on at the end of the afterparty and fall asleep to it.

Let The Silence Float

Ulrich Schnaus, Jonas Munk – Sirocco

A breathtaking pad sound scape combined with a touch of indie rock and well used distortion effects. This song is really good to float away.

FloFilz – Doorsteps

A bit of Lofi and Lofi House shouldn’t be missing at any afterhour. FloFilz has a great style when it comes to relaxed beats and groovy rhythms.

Jan Jelinek – Do Dekor

‘Loop Finding Jazz Records’ is one of my most listened to records ever. Super interesting glitch sounds, weird rhythms and melodies but at the same time incredibly balanced and relaxing. Jan Jelinek is also a great live performer.

Guts – Brand New Revolution

My afterparty kick off song number one: ‘Guts – Brand New Revolution’. This guy has such a positive energy in his music and I think that´s what we all need before we go to bed after a long club night.
