Fast-rising, south London artist, Lily McKenzie is knocking on the door of breakthrough success. Her innate ear for melody combined with meaningful lyrics and flawless vocals has seen her recently collaborate with the highly respected Stanton Warriors (who she performed with at Glastonbury last year), Katy B, and fresh, forward-thinking producers such as Spectrasoul, The Prototypes and TRC. Love this song. It’s got so much energy – every verse brings something different and garage has always been a genre that I’ve loved. You can’t go wrong with this one.
Davinche ft. Katie Pearl & Kano ‘Leave Me Alone’
This was one of my favourite songs at school and it still sounds so fresh to this day. Davinche brings that energy and Katie Pearl’s vocals complement the track so well. Another singalong for me.
So Gone ‘Monica’
This is one my favourite RnB songs. Me and my friends love singing and dancing along pretending to be in a music video!
Bootsy Collins ‘I’d Rather Be With You’
This song reminds me of being in New York with my friend. We were in a taxi on our way out and it came on the radio – it then became the trip theme song. Now it always makes me think of good times!
Giggs ‘List Hello’
This is my favourite Giggs song, this always makes it on the ‘afters’ playlist’ at the end of the night.
Sister Sledge ‘Lost In Music’
This is such a classic. I think most musicians can relate to the lyrics in the one – such a feel-good record.
Jessie Ware ‘Alone’ (Toddla T Remix)
This song just makes me think of summer. The Toddla T remix gives me life – percussion, chords and vocals are all on point!
Arctic Monkeys ‘One For The Road’
Love the Arctic Monkeys and this is THE classic afters theme song.
