Meda – For Love (Badam Music)

Parisian label Badam music returns with a superb new single from French producer Meda, backed with remixes from Art of Tones and Trevor Rockcliffe. Badam Music has been plotting a slow course to victory since its launch in 2018, with a decided focus on quality over quantity. 2018’s Matthias Vogt release ‘Roger’ kicked things off in fine style, and it was over a year before the superb ‘Body Fresh’ by Broz Inc dropped. Now here we are in 2020, with the third offering from this most selective of labels in the shape of Meda’s brilliant ‘For Love’. Meda has been a mainstay on the Parisian electro and house scene for the last decade, dropping releases on labels like Kolour, Resopal Schallware and Manuscript, whilst also managing labels himself, organizing events and frequently headlining some of the best club in the country. Now he offers up what may be his strongest release to date for Badam. The release kicks off with the original version of ‘For Love’, an enticing slice of deep and soulful electronic music built around skittering percussion, warm chords and the repeated vocal refrain. First of the remixes sees production heavyweight Art of Tones take the stage with a deep house mix that really hits the mark. Fifteen plus years of releases on the likes of Local Talk, 20:20 Vision and House of Disco have honed the producer’s skills to a fine craft, and he delivers here in fine fashion. The remix marries old school keys and synths with simple vocal licks to create a truly infectious groove. For those who like things a little more stripped back, Art of Tones provides a classic dub. The package is completed with a remix from UK legend Trevor Rockcliffe, a man with a 30 year history right at the heart of dance music. Here he delivers a wonderfully hypnotic version that moves from its laid back intro to become the most driving of the bunch.
