After hours grooving at the coolest after parties in town…
Roxy Music “Tara” from “Avalon”
One of my favourite tracks on that album. A sort of intro that never turns into a song, just a vibe, even more evocative of the whole Avalon legend theme. Quite a short track but that’s what “repeat” function was invented for!
Soft Machine “Out of Season”
Been a fan of them for a while but this one’s was a recent discovery for me. Just incredible, ethereal and blissful.
Model 9000 “Majestio Waves”
Absolutely stunning ambient track somewhere lost in his “Perceptions Vol.1” EP on Question of Time (1995). Model 9000 was portuguese dance music producer from the 90’s, very underrated but involved in some of the most relevant releases of that era – even though a lot of times not properly credited.
NEO “Pointy Birds”
Found this on the re-release on Emotional Rescue. Just absolute bliss, really. What can I even say of this. Perfection.
Pat Metheny “Slipping Away”
One of my favourite tracks ever. Instant rush of innocent bliss.
Jean Luc Ponty “Mystical Adventure”
The whole album just does something to me emotionally. I’m huge fan of him, was lucky to get hold of a lot of his LP’s through my girlfriend’s father – also a fan. Hard to explain, it’s a very magnetic record to me, with lots of great moments and diversity, and brilliant musicianship.
Brandy “Full Moon”
Such a brilliant R&B album. Was a huge fan of her singles from this period “Full Moon” and “What About” and so was Bruno from Sabre, and he just advised me to check the whole album. He was right. Brilliant record.
Joyce “Aldeia de Ogun”
One of those records that tricks your brain into thinking you’re in Paradise for a few minutes. Just changes the atmosphere. Also, one of the best basslines ever recorded?
Future Sound of London “ISDN”
There’s some sort of relaxing state coming from this sort of alternative Blade Runner soundtrack with quotes from Exorcist II. A seductive dysthopia. Love them so much.
6K “Sculturescape EP”
This is actually a pretty abstract techno record. For some reason, as I was saying on Facebook the other day, the whole spaciousness of it reminds me of the portuguese countryside in the winter, at night. That sort of wet reverb, it’s a sort of abstract, experimental record with that evocative spaciousness. Love to listen to it in a quiet afternoon or night.

The Oxjam Brixton takeover is a multi-venue event in Brixton that takes place on Saturday October 19th. It incorporates live bands, DJ sets and performance, with all proceeds going to Oxfam.
About Oxjam:
Since Oxjam was established in 2006, 4000 Oxjam events have taken place nationwide; 50,000 + musicians have performed; 1,000,000 people have attended an Oxjam event and £2m+ has been raised for Oxfam’s work. That’s enough to provide safe water for 2 million people, buy 80,000 goats or feed 4000 communities.
Artists such as Fatboy Slim, Hot Chip, Jarvis Cocker, Brett Anderson, Damon Albarn, Basement Jaxx, The Charlatans, Roots Manuva, Chemical Brothers and many more have played. In 2011 alone, the gigs were independently judged to have generated over £950,000 worth of media coverage for Oxjam and Oxfam.
The Oxjam Takeover:
The Oxjam Takeover is a multi-venue one-ticket-gives-access-to-all event. Since starting in 2009 there have been 129 Takeovers that have generated £525,000 for Oxfam. The events take place all across the UK on one weekend in October and are organized by volunteers with a focus on local, grassroots music. This year the 60 Takeover gigs will aim to raise a total of £250,000+.
In total the festival has generated over 4000 pieces of media coverage, the majority of which has been about local volunteers and events.
