This was tough… as my top 10 changes all the time, so this is a mix of some older and newer stuff that I’m listening to and is influencing me right now..
Joe Goddard – Gabriel
The vocal in this is addictive and I’m obsessed with the melody of it.. like how did they come up with that? Also when the bass kicks in the whole track just moves, and me with it.
Cri – Stranger
I could probably pick 2 or 3 tracks from his latest album “Juvenile” but went with this one though as it just makes me feel happy and sad at the same time, which is how music is meant to be.
Cut Copy – Out There On the Ice
In Ghost Colours is one of my fav albums.. and this tune is proper hands in the air for me. I saw them play it at a festival and its definitely in my top 5 festival moments.
Maceo Plex, Jon Dasilva and Joe Cardwell – Somebody Elsev
This track is so simple but it does so much at the same time.. when the vocal kicks in its so satisfying. Its a good one to start the night with.
Four Tet – Baby
Four Tet has been a staple of mine for years.. and this track is influencing a lot of what I’m doing right now. I also only recently found out that the vocal is Ellie Goudling which is mad.
Logic1000 – I won’t Forget
I heard about Logic 1000 from a Caribou remix they did last year couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of them before. Its got some pure 90’s house vibes but also goes off.. I would love to hear this in a club.. whenever that will be possible 🙂
Jamie XX – Loud Places
In Colour is one album I don’t think I’ll ever stop listening to. This tune provided another top 5 festival moment.. I can stick it on, close my eyes and I’m back there in an instant. Its also got Romy’s voice on it which has me feeling happy/sad too.. in a good way.
Caribou – Can’t Do Without You
Caribou has also been a staple of mine for years.. and I could pick numerous tracks of his for this list. I picked this one because its one that I keep going back to, it just takes overall your senses and renders you powerless.
Tourist – Wild
Tourist is a big influence and this tune is just the best to listen to on headphones.. I’d be on the tube in London (before the lost year of 2020) and transported elsewhere in my head for a little bit.
Orbital – Halcyon (Tom Middleton Remodel)
Halcyon is such a beautiful tune and Tom Middleton’s remodel took all the beauty and made it fully dance-able..it get’s me every time.
Tailor – Don’t Look Back (Self-released)
Singer, songwriter and producer Tailor has been making his mark as an artist on-the-up with a well-crafted discography of solo releases and collaborations. As well as releasing his debut alt-pop EP last year, his distinctive songwriting and productions has opened the door to a host of collaborations. Working with the likes MØ, Cosmo’s Midnight, Satin Jackets and Peking Duk he has moved effortlessly between genres, elevating each project with his distinct tone and perspective every time. This March sees the arrival of his latest offering ‘Don’t Look Back’ a triumphant and uplifting addition to Tailor’s growing catalogue as he pushes the tempo and takes things into a deeper and alternative electronic direction. Drawing on influences including Jamie XX, Four Tet and Romy, Tailor moves later into the night, soundtracking the early hours when the party lingers on and feelings are heightened. ‘Don’t Look Back’ is an uplifting and sensational affair, with intricate chopped up vocals that build the foundations of this hypnotic and perfectly balanced journey. Luscious chords lay over loose syncopated drums, whilst warped effects and delicate synth lines roll between deep bassline sequences.
