Jay Shepheard

1. Talking Heads “This Must Be The Place” Sire Records Company
I’m a huge talking heads fan…their super lyrics and great musical grooves are always a treat for after hours listening.

2. Kalabrese “Kalabrese” Stattmusik
This superb album from last year is a perfect blend of live and electronic sounds, cool vocals and uniquely produced grooves…their releases on Perlon and recent podcast on RA are pretty sweet too.

3. Casco “Cybernetic Love” House Of Music
In my opinion one of the greatest electronic records ever created – so emotional yet so synthetic, perfect.

4. Ten City “That’s The Way Love Is” Ibadan
I’m a real sucker for vintage house music, enough said.

5. Gaz Nevada “Special Agent Man” (femail version) Italian Records
Deep deep old school underground disco, a true epic track with a killer hook and some seriously bizzar vocals thrown in for good measure.

6. Strassmann “Playground” Normoton
Beard stroke alert! Sparse production and ultra chilled minimal and melodic grooves, a great album from a few years back, sounds sweet in the club, or while doing the washing up.

7. Jay Shepheard “The Party’s Upstairs” Compost Black
I have to admit admit I do listen to my own music quite a lot…This one from the Compost Black 28 EP is my fav’ for after hours action.

8. Matthew Johnson “911, How Can I Help You” Arbutus
Easily my top Johnson track. A simple repeating scale synthesized and modulated so perfectly it keeps you riveted for the duration. Again, a good one at home or out and about.

9. Six Cups Of Rebel “Temperert” Feedelity
A serously off the wall track by Lindstrom under the Six Cups Of Rebel alias. Great analogue bass, loose percussion and a slow tempo cary the track while some unusual producuion and sounds complete the pakage.

10 . Gwen McCrae “Funky Sensation” (MAW edit) Atlantic
I like a lot of Gwens tracks but this one takes the biscuit. Gwens superb voice over the grooviest groove you can imagine, complete with a jacking production tune up from Kenny and Luis.

Jay Shepheard’s remix of Urban Soul’s “Alright” is out now on Juno Records http://www.juno.co.uk/10
