Stephane Malca – Next to you – Better Days mix – Pro-Zak Trax 1999
Amazing piece of properly funky house music, not cheesy at all! Got this from Tag records in Soho back when we all used to go record shopping!
Sha-Lor – I’m in Love – Gertie 1989
Beautiful Vocal House track from the Acid house days, the production sounds like it was made in someone’s toilet, but it’s still a great song.
Coco Steel and Lovebomb – Feel It – Warp 1991
The girl friend I had at the time turned me on to this, late night party business. Samples Koro Koro and Omniverse. Two of my favourite breaks ever.
Omniverse – Never get Enough – Antima records- 1991
I never get bored of hearing this track, Total funky slick as F**K beats with a Jazzy B-line. An Italian House classic.
Leftfield – Release the Pressure – Hard Hands – 1995
From my favourite Artist Album ever, Leftfield are the kings of dance music they had a vibe that no one else has been able to recreate since.
Fluke – Electric Guitar – Circa Records 1993
What a track, love that bendy wobbly noise that goes all the way through it. A really original track. Production still sounds great now.
Precious – In Motion – Definition of a track – Big Beat – 1989
One of the most famous Acid House Basslines ever I think. For years people were creating tracks using it. There will probably be more too. I used to hear this on everyone’s car stereos when we were driving to Warehouse parties back then. So original and simple. It’s got a b-line and about 5 different drum sounds but it sounds so FAT!
Mono – Life in Mono – Propellerheads sweat band mix. Echo 1998
Very spacey Trip Hop track, great vibe. Very old sounding guitar with big fat beats and Bass. That’s all you need.
Beloved – The Sunrising – WEA 1989
The soundtrack to a thousand mornings for many people driving home after a big night out. It’s been Emotional J Nuff said.
Monsoon – Ever So Lonely – Ben Chapman Remix – Phonogram 1990
I’d never heard anything like it when it came out, what an amazing record. Got sampled and made in to a cheesey chart tune a few years ago. Love this.
