A personal collection for after hours grooving…
D’Angelo And The Vanguard – Really Love – RCA
It’s so hard to just choose one D’angelo record, but this one is so beautiful, I love his vocals. This is such a great collaboration with ‘The Vanguard’.
Anderson Paak – The Bird – Empire
One of my favourite tracks of Anderson’s, I love the lyrics and the instrumentation is dope!
Steely Dan – Josie – ABC
The groove of ‘Josie’ always makes me so excited, and the lyrical content is amazing. The album ‘Aja’ that ‘Josie’ is from is a masterpiece.
Mac Miller, Ariana Grande – My Favourite Part – REmember
I love both these artists, and the contrast of their voices work so perfectly, I was so obsessed with their live performance of this and it’s a must watch. I love the sexy groove and soulful Rhodes on this one.
Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes – Nightrider – Blue Note
Tom Misch’s album with Yussef Dayes is one of my favourite albums and Yussef Dayes’ drumming is just insane! I can never get bored of this track.
Esperanza Spalding – Crowned & Kissed – Heads up International
I love everything about this track, Esperanza is a big inspiration to me in the contemporary jazz scene.
Chet Baker – Almost Blue – Novus
Such a beautiful piece of music, so melancholy but peaceful too. I can’t get enough of this track, it always makes me so emotional.
Bobby Caldwell – What You Won’t Do For Love – Clouds
This tune always puts a smile on my face, it has an unbeatable energy and soul. I’ve listened to it way too many times!
Robert Glasper – Move Love – Blue Note
I love the chord progression on this so much, I’m really inspired by Robert Glasper’s writing and playing. I love the laid back almost heavy groove.
Amy Winehouse – What It Is – Island
‘Frank’ is by far my favourite Amy Winehouse album, you can really hear her jazz influences. I love the simplicity of this song – just the guitar, and her vocals shine through.
