Japan takes DMC gold and silver!

Japan may be staging the 2020 OLYMPICS but Japanese DJs come out fighting at the 2021 DJ OLYMPICS!!!

The latest of the 8 DMC Championships has turned back the clock to the very birth of the DMC World DJ Championships in 1985 where DJs worked with vinyl-only. Fans who attended those events will recall the days when competitors could have a helper who handed them the next record and the ‘1 minute finger’ shot up in front of them to let them know they had 60 seconds left in their performance.  These days performances, because they are recorded and rehearsed tirelessly, are timed perfectly by the DJs.

What has rocked the DMC world with this particular vinyl final is the complete dominance of the Japanese DJs:

Results:  1st Yukichi  (Japan)  – 2nd DJ Yamagami  (Japan)  – 3rd: TRAPS  (USA)

Traps who is from California, has Japanese ancestors and also came third in the Beat Juggling Championships. The extended 2021 contest season sees DMC’s supported by the world’s great DJ product manufacturers, Technics Panasonic, Pioneer DJ, Rane, Numark and VirtualDJ.

This year all events will be followed by a DMC WATCHALONG and this one was hosted by CUTMASTER SWIFT – the 1989 DMC WORLD DJ CHAMPION, with guests Johnny Juice and Scratch Pervert Mr.Thing.  Watchalongs can be viewed after each event on YouTube, Facebook and soon on dmcworld.com.
