Tommier Joyson

Swift newcomer Tommier Joyson makes his debut on Hot Creations this July with his first single, Clap Your Hands. On the B side, Eastenderz boss East End Dubs makes provides a signature remix to complete the release. We’re sure both of these are going to go down a treat when we return to the dancefloor. With the release approaching, we’re pleased to be chatting with Tommier today…

Hey Tommier! Great to have you with us! How are you doing and whereabouts are you in the world right now?

Hi, thank you very much! Great if it weren’t for the situation we are in, I’m not enjoying not being able to go to clubs and festivals!  I’m from a small town in Alicante (Spain).

How is the music scene where you are right now? How is the pandemic affecting it there?

Pretty poor.  In almost 6000 km² that my region has, there is only one club that when we were in normal conditions held electronic music parties. I hope I can move to a big city soon!

So later this month your debut release lands, and it’s coming on none other than Hot Creations. That’s a serious feat! Can you tell us a little bit about how ‘Clap Your Hands’ found its home on Hot Creations?

Since I decided more than ten years ago (now I am 28) that I wanted to dedicate myself professionally to the task of DJ and music producer, I have been training as best as possible within my possibilities for it.  The production part has cost me more since my musical tastes are very wide and I have been trying hard until I have managed to organize my ideas. Hot Creations is my favorite electronic music label that for me best conveys the sum of fun and darkness in their releases.  I set my goal more than a year ago to get my first release here and, with a bit of luck, I got Jamie Jones’s email and after several unsuccessful attempts it finally happened.

We think this track is going to hit hard on the dancefloors when they re-open! Can you tell us a bit about your creative process and how you made the tune?

I’m looking forward to seeing it play on a dancefloor, I hope it can happen soon! When I created “Clap The Hands” I wanted to produce a powerful and groovy song with good vibes keeping the flavour of some of the ghetto house anthems but with a modern perspective.

Eastenderz boss East End Dubs has provided a super remix in his signature style. What were your thoughts when you heard his remix and what’s it like to have him remixing your work?

Awesome work! I have always liked the deep and elegant touch of his productions, it is an honor for me.

As this is your first release, there’s a lot for us to learn about you still! Can you tell us a bit about how you got into dance music and some of your inspirations?

Well, my first encounter with dance music was when I was a teenager. I have an uncle and a cousin who were DJs back in 2005. At that time I had my first contact with some turntables and vinyl and from there a flame woke up in me that has led me to create my own music.  Also with the rise of the internet, I have been able to discover an infinity of music that has influenced me in one way or another.

To name a few “conventional” tags:

Funk, Disco, R&B and Soul Music, Latin music, Rock, “Dance” Music and obviously House and Techno.

What are some of your favourite pastimes aside from making, playing or listening to music?

Sports, gastronomy, traveling…

Thanks a lot for chatting with us today Tommier. Big ups once again on the Hot Creations debut and we can’t wait to see what’s next for you. On that note before we leave, is there anything else lined up from yourself that you can tell us about yet?

Many thanks DMCWORLD! Aside from new solo tracks, I’m working with the artist who released his EP just before me on Hot Creations…

Tommier Joyson ‘Clap Your Hands’ is released 30th July 2021 on Hot Creations with the pre order link.
