Oftentimes, people don’t know the amount of fear, doubt and demotivation we go through as artists. This song really motivates me on those really tough days, to just trust myself and TRY!

Keenan Meyere – Healing

Indeed, this song by such a phenomenal South African jazz talent brings healing and upliftment. The music just flies in and out of my spirit.

Thievery Corporation – Décollage

I love music that transports me to a different place. I always imagine my home being a sanctuary where I escape from the world and draw my inspiration from. This song does the job!

Andrew Ashong & Theo Parrish – Flowers

I make music in two genres – alternative soul and house music – so I really love it when musicians find a way to bring elements of both into their music. I love to dance and sing along to this one.

DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson – Caipirinha

This song is another one that takes me to a different place, somewhere sunny, by the beach, with a Caipirinha (my favourite cocktail) in my hand. Ironically, this song seems to lament the absence of sun in the musicians’ location.

Austin Ato – Song For Mr. Lewis

I first heard this song at a lovely restaurant and music venue in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, called Mangrove. Though it’s closed down, it holds a special place in my musical memories as I’ve performed there a few times, and this song captures the amazing feeling of freedom and joy that the venue gave to everyone who occupied that space.
