With a background that ranges between the complex lines of classical music, progressive rock and even the classics of the 70s-90s, Dan Grimm and Diego Feder aka GRIFE developed skills to express themselves through a language capable of making bodies dance intuitively. And then, GRIFE was born. The aesthetic sense based on experimentation, two “curious souls” and a keen ear, painted, right from the start, soundscapes that traveled the world.
Their next single, ‘Ones and Twos’ appears on Zatar Colors Vol.2 on Phonique’s Zatar Music, which continues the party from volume 1 – keeping the groove locked into the label’s distinct subtle yet effective vibe. DMCWorld goes back to mine with GRIFE.
AIR – La femme d’argent
A timeless track that feels like floating in a dream. A true classic.
Tom Demac – Serenade
Ah, what can we say? This track is an absolute banger. You just lose yourself in the music, and before you know it, the song is over, and you’re hitting repeat. It’s a sublime track that embodies the essence of electronic music.
Gui Boratto – Azurra
Minimalist yet deeply moving, this track reflects Boratto’s mastery and could be considered a national treasure for Brazil’s electronic music scene.
Leaving Laurel – sometimes it’s scary but it’s still just you and me
Of course we wouldn’t miss selecting an Anjunadeep release. We’re thinking of an older classic from 16BL (Beat Organ, Deep In My Soul) or even Cubicolor – Soul Chords but then we remembered about this gem. Oh how hard this song had hit our veins when it was released.
PS: the artist backstory is very inspiring, you might want to take a quick look on it here (https://ra.co/dj/leavinglaurel/biography)
Feed Me & Crystal Fighters – Love Is All I Got
So many good memories jamming to this track! It brings us back to the early days when we were just getting started as a duo.
Teho – Peinture à l’eau
You gotta hear this one. It’s like a conversation of melodies, all weaving together. It’s not just a track, it’s a story that keeps getting better by the minute.
Baden Powell, Vinicius de Moraes – Canto De Ossanha
It’s like a piece of Brazilian soul, you know? You can’t really be from Brazil and not get the feels from this track, it’s historic and powerful.
Martin Roth – More Amor Por Favor
We’re not quite not sure if this would fit as an afterparty song… maybe that depends on the kind of afterparty that you’re attending. It could also work as a last resort (closing set) while trying to impact the listeners with very strong emotions – “More Love, Please” is what we all need, right?
Poolside feat. Panama – Can’t Stop Your Lovin’
This song is just FUN.
De La Soul ft. Otis Redding – Eye Know
Switching gears to close out the list in a different genre, but keeping the groove alive. This track has that sexy vibe that makes you wanna find someone and just dance.
GRIFE ‘Ones and Twos’ appears on Zatar Colors Vol.2 out now on Zatar Music.
