A linchpin of the cut-throat Chicago scene, Ōsé has made a name for himself through a string of quality releases on labels such as Arcane, Farris Wheel, Relief, and Trick, to name a few. Often leaning into the darker side of house, Ōsé’s futuristic productions capture the chaos of the club via claustrophobic synth work and unsettling vocal samples. As he releases his ‘Self Help’ EP on his own label, 5150 Records, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Ōsé.
Frankie Knuckles – The Whistle Song
My favorite record from one of Chicago’s many great treasures, Frankie Knuckles.
Ministry – I Wanted To Tell Her
Although a fan of all Ministry works, With Sympathy has a very special place in my heart.
Richie Hawtin – Minus/Orange 1
This song along with Decks, EFX, 909 were pivotal in my affinity for Techno music.
Earth, Wind & Fire – Evolution Orange
Raise! by Earth, Wind, & Fire is definitely one of my all-time favorite records and the cuts like this are what make the record.
Prince – I Wanna Be Your Lover
One of my heroes and one of the best, if not, the best to ever do it. Any Prince track is a slam dunk but this has to be in my top 10; although, that’s a revolving door.
ZZ Top – Beer Drinkers & Hellraisers
The perfect track to get a night of raising hell off to a proper start.
Alice In Chains – We Die Young
It took me quite some time to be able to understand Alice In Chains, but once I did I couldn’t believe what I had been missing. A band I used to hate has become one of my favorites and this album along with Dirt have absolutely zero skips.
Pantera – Primal Concrete Sledge
One of my favorite riffs from my favorite guitarist of all time.
Frozen Soul – Arsenal of War
Frozen Soul and their new record have been steadily in my rotation since my discovery. The lyrics for Arsenal of War are very inspirational and helped me mourn the death of my late friend, Dave.
Webbed Wing – Make A Dime
Webbed Wing is one of my go-to’s for music that’s a bit more tame than a lot of my preferences. Many of the members are also in Superheaven so you know they don’t miss.
