Back To Mine With Sir Winston

Winston Giles aka Sir Winston has had a prolific career – with many acclaimed releases under different monikers, and in September 2023 dropped a new Sir Winston EP ‘Démons à Combattre’. Written in Paris and recorded in Brooklyn, New York, the EP presents a throwback to the Bloghaus era, with catchy indie dance/electroclash tracks such as ‘Perfectly Numb’ and ‘Sex in Paris’. To accompany the EP he’s also released four killer Tech House remixes, the latest being ‘Fashion Is A Drug’ (Remix). DMCWorld goes back to mine with Sir Winston.

Jamie XX – Gosh

What a triumph this track is, and the most amazing video – I never tire of it. A killer sample and glorious synth part, one of my all-time faves – something very special and unique about GOSH.

LCD Soundsystem – Dance Yrself Clean

The ultimate afterparty jam IMO. It’s an unusual song with a strange sparce start. The lyrics are brilliant and when it drops – we’re all off to the races. It’s the soundtrack to a million late nite parties.

The Chemical Brothers – Let Forever Be

I love a track that merges rock with dance. Noel Gallagher’s vocal and lyrics on this are gold. It was meant to be this track – something just perfect about it, a real classic.

The Chemical Brothers – The Golden Path

Another Chemical’s track I’ll give a blast at a house party. I’m a massive fan of the Flaming Lips and Wayne Coyne and this track was a collab made in heaven.  His vocal is really honest and uplifting. It’s a fun positive journey.

Fred Again – Jungle

The vocal is striking with killer lyrics. It drops so fat and pumps so hard with the crazy loud synths and bass. It has this twisted weirdness to it. Addicted to this track.

Laurent Garnier – Crispy Bacon

This will get everyone back on their feet. Precise and intellectual, sophisticated and chaotic. A true masterpiece. If you don’t like Crispy Bacon we can’t be friends.

Armand Van Helden – Little Black Spiders

This track is now 24 years old and if it came out today it would still raise heads. It’s dark and spooky, fierce, and intense – it’s so very different to anything else. It has so much character – a late night super weirdo anthem.

The Prodigy – Breathe

The production and mega riff still gets me in. The Punk vibe is intense and dangerous. I must hear it often.

Closer – Nine Inch Nails

Such a perfect daring track. I love the big risks that Trent Reznor takes. When all the parts are firing at the end it’s rhythmically amazing.

Aphex Twin – Windowlicker

Another insanely cool video. An epic creepy groove. Total classic. The sounds are so clever and unusual.
