DMCWORLD AWARDS 2016 – Steve Parry

Tune

I hate this question, so many gems this year! Not really sure where to start –  I’ll just pick a recent tune I love, otherwise I’d be thinking about this for weeks –  Neil Flynn – J.E.N. Feat. Katie Kim (Original Mix) – on LOSSLESS – I do properly love this – uber cool, beautiful, hypnotic and ballsey at the same time.

Album

I’m a bit rubbish with albums to be honest, I never listen to them much or DJ mixes… But – I did like Sasha’s – Scene:Delete on Late Nite Tales though – cool vibes.

Remix

Again, so many, I could list 10 on Selador, but I won’t..! This is pretty dam superb, and I can’t stop playing it   – Sordo & Rodriguez – Vestidor De Noche (Hauswerks remix) – on Underground Audio – one of those tracks that just does the damage without trying too hard. I’ll be playing this for a very long time, and people always ask me what it is when I play it.

Label

Selador (cough, cough, shameless self promotion) – otherwise I’d go for Freerange. They always keep me on my toes and surprise me. From deep and soulful edged groovers, to peak time gems – always quality stuff.

Breakthrough label

RePublik Music Recordings – Amazing label from Waterford in Ireland, from the lads who have been putting on amazing parties for a decade.

Producer

Lee Van Dowski – he’s got the Midas touch for me, mr cool!

Festival

Glastonbury, its just relentless and mind-blowing, I love it.

Music Conference

DE – I love it, musical friends (old and new) from around the Globe meeting up, chatting, doing business, having a laugh and going to the maddest and biggest DJ line ups anywhere – I love it. Also we had our first party at ADE this year with our pals at Sincopat that made this year even more special.

Radio Show

I know people will laugh, but I love Simon Mayo on Radio 2, he is effortlessly amazing day in day out. Truly superb radio DJ, one the UK’s finest of all time I’d say… But if we are going to more dance music orientated vibes, then my mate Desa Basshead on Wirral Radio every Friday night. An excellent radio show of disco and funk, with a bit of soul and house. Desa always introduces me to something I don’t know but love from yesteryear.

Mainstage DJ

John Digweed – he’s been consistently brilliant for two decades, and seems to somehow get better. He’s so thoroughly good, I’m constantly impressed with him.

Resident DJ

Paul Reynolds – from his residencies at Melon Bomb, To Space, Ibiza to Ushuaia Tower – he never fails to deliver, and a top chap to boot.

Club

Ministry Of Sound – its been there for decades but still blows me away.

New Studio Equipment/Software

Hardware we use Push 2 loads, is great – and software just started using Reaktor 6 Blocks thats rather tasty!

Personal highlight of 2016

So many! But ill go for being privileged enough to play for Selador at Space, Ibiza 3 times in its closing year – if Carlsberg did gigs…
