Little Boots

What’s The Best Night Out You’ve Ever Had?
Well its probably not the best EVER but I have a short term memory… last week I went to Blow Up which is an electro party in a warehouse in downtown LA, I was meant to DJ but everyone uses laptops over there so my CDs weren’t much use… so I just danced all night….  vodka measures are a lot stronger… highlight was when they played Fake Blood and we were all on the stage going crazy. Can’t remember the aftermath… usually a good sign?!

What’s Your Favourite Club?
The Hub in Poulton-le-Fylde near Blackpool, the only place that would let me in at 16 as I’m the smallest girl ever. Spent many a night dancing to Darude’s Sandstorm in a nasty turquoise 2 piece from Tammy Girl… ahh the memories.

What’s Your Favourite Record Of All-time?
Probably Kate Bush ‘Lionheart’ but this is obviously an extremely hard question so that’s just off the top of my head.

What Record Can’t You Stand?
ANYTHING by Manic Street Preachers, in particularly ‘If You Tolerate This’… I definately can’t.

What Record Did You Lose Your Virginity Too?
Probably something by The Beatles… I don’t think I listened to anything else for a year when I was 16… apart from Darude’s Sandstorm, obv.

What Was The Last Record You Bought?
70s Dinner Party triple cd compilation – it’s genius. I also just got the full works of the Gibb brothers which I’m obsessed with.

Name Three Of Your Biggest Influences…
They change a lot, at the moment i would say the Bee Gees, David Bowie (the Glass Spider Tour) and fantasy art… especially space-themed fantasy art with mystical creatures. There are lots of different genres of fantasy art, it’s quite a complex medium. But I like the airbrushed kind that has things like unicorns and eagles in space… it inspires a lot of my artwork.

Who Would Play You In ‘Little Boots The Movie’
Bette Middler.

What’s Your Dream?
To make music for the rest of my life and to reach as many people as possible with it. I’d also really like to fly over the audience at a gig a bit like Bon Jovi in the Living on a Prayer video.

How Do You Escape?
I don’t really… I spend most of my time making music which I’d never want to escape from. I guess if I’m stressed out or something I play some classical piano and it usually really helps, it’s a great way to channel your emotions. But I’m terrible at relaxing, I’m always doing a million and one things at once.

What Is Your Favourite Possession?
My keyboards… probably my Moog wins but I love them all. I’m hopefully getting some new synths soon as well… Roland Sh101 definately on the shopping list…

What Is Your Life Philosophy?
Everything happens for a reason, even the bad stuff…

What’s In Your Pockets?
I don’t have any. Probably hair grips in my jacket and a few quarters left from recording in America.

If You Were An Animal, What Animal and Why?
An alicorn, because they are a cross between a unicorn and pegasus, so they have a horn AND they can fly, how sick is that?

You Are Having A Party, Whom Dead Or Alive Is On The Guest List?
Cerrone, Amanda Lear, Klaus Nomi, man this is gonna be a freaky party… best get Lindsay Lohan in there to shake things up a bit. Oh and Noel Edmonds. Wiley. Barbara Streisand. Hannah Montana. This would be ace… I could go on for ages….

When Was The Last Time You Embarrassed Yourself?
Hmmm I seem to on a daily basis…  just before I went away I was going out in the epicentre of uncool that is Shoreditch and about ten minutes from my house the entire heel of one of my shoes collapsed and came off, and they were probably 5 inch stilettos, so I had to hobble all the way back half on tiptoe carrying my broken heel in disgrace… I think you had to be there but it was pretty funny.

Tell Us Something That We Don’t Know About Little Boots
When I was at college I was in a prog rock band where I played keyboards and the harp. For real.
