East Coast superstars making New Jersey proud on Armada with ‘Love Me A Little’
Interview by Dan Prince
Guys a massive welcome to DMCWORLD…where in the world are you today?
Hey Dan! We are in LA at the moment. We played an awesome show at Create Nightclub a few days ago!
What was the first piece of music you two heard this morning after rolling out your respective beds?!?
Funny story, actually I fell asleep with Tchami – Afterlife on repeat and when we woke up it was still playing haha…
So you have done it again, ensured muchos dancefloor madness thanks to your music, this time it’s down to ‘Love Me A Little’ which has been receiving so much support from the big guys. Please talk us through the history and sound of the track…
We started writing a track, and actually finished it in a whole day. We sent right to Armada Music, which they replied back telling us that they loved it and that they were sending it out to all their vocalists. The next day they gave us a beautiful female acapella. We put it together with our track & it honestly sounded perfect!
Can you remember where you first road tested the track?
Yes! We played a sold out show in Pharr, Texas and we told the crowd we had to get off because of curfew. They were chanting “One more song, one more song” so we dropped “Love Me A Little”. It was a beautiful moment and honestly sounded great! We will never forget that night.
Saw you hanging with Tiesto, VINAI and MOTi at Miami Music week, some are saying it was the best yet, some are saying it ain’t what it used to be. What was your take on it?
It was our first time in Miami for Miami Music Week and it was the best time of our lives. Especially because we got to spend time hanging with a bunch of our good friends such as Tiesto, Dzeko and Torres, Moti etc…
Some of the highlights for you…?
Miami Music Week was insane. One of the best moments we had was when we were at Ultra and Tiesto dropped our collab with Zaxx! Hearing and seeing everyone’s reaction was the greatest feeling.
What are the 5 big tunes in your box this weekend…
FTampa – That Drop
W&W – Rave After Rave
Tchami – Afterlife
Tiesto & KSHMR – Secrets
Rush (Sam Feldt Remix)
…love all those songs and they work great in our sets!
Okay let’s rewind for a moment. You started mixing music when you were 8 years old on DSS-DJ. How on earth had you fallen in love with music that young, you come from musical families or something?
No musical families. Just always had a love for it. Even before we were 8 years old. Used to dance, sing, play instruments too! Did whatever we can that involved music pretty much haha.
You cite Hardwell and Tiesto as early producer heroes. What is it about these guys that ticked the boxes?
To us they are legends. Their music is just always fresh and so original. Listened to Tiesto since I was a little kid in the 90’s. It’s awesome to see how long he has come.
True or false? You became friends after Piros threw a basketball at Riggi’s during recess?
True!! Been friends since 1st grade haha.
When did the idea of an actual career in music start to form in your minds?
After we started playing our first couple of shows by ourselves and seeing all the fans we never though we could have. It was an unreal feeling.
What did your family think of the idea?
Our families supported us in everything we wanted to do.
What was your first major break in the industry?
Hardwell playing our first release ever on his radio show. From then on people started to take a liking to our music and we gained a fan base through that!
Two years ago in an interview you were asked about your hopes for the future, you answered “we hope to sign to a big label, but our biggest dream of all is to play in front of a huge crowd at a festival where the people come just to enjoy our music.” Right then, that’s those two ticked off – what are some of your other musical ambitions?
Yeah after achieving those two we thought of new goals for us. Some being to play more major music festivals and a collaboration with a legend such as Tiesto, Hardwell, Or Martin Garrix etc.
Music aside, three crazy bucket list adventures you wanna do in your lifetime?
We have an agreement that if we ever make the Top 100 DJ poll we will go skydiving! Two others would be to drive a Lamborghini and go on a huge vacation in Hawaii with all of our best friends.
A dream studio collab…
Definitely Tiesto. One of the coolest guys we have ever met. So we think working together with him would be really easily to make something HUGE!
The last time you had a huge argument about music?
We have arguments about music every once in a while. I’m glad we do have arguments because it honestly helps with making our music to the best it could be.
Tell us about your studio set up, who excels in what area?
Well we both have studios at both our houses. Riggi usually starts with all the ideas in his studio then transfers the work to Piros’s studio to finish!!
And finally, what is coming out next studio wise from you guys?
We have a few huge collabs that we are not allowed to talk about, but let’s just say this summer is going to a big one for us.
