Jason Herd has gained worldwide acclaim with his uplifting house productions on top labels such as on Defected, Subliminal Azuli, Toolroom, Moody and CR2, among others. Jason launched his Bohemian Disco label in summer 2023 working with artists including Barbara Tucker, Roland Clark and The Bohemian Disco Choir. This summer, Jason’s anthem, Herd & Fitz x Abigail Bailey ‘I Just Can’t Get Enough’ is blowing up again with new mixes from Hannah Wants and Jakkob, as is his new collaboration with Steve Edwards on ‘Brothers & Sisters’. DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with Jason Herd.
Riva Starr – Love You Till Tomorrow – Glitterbox
Riva Starr is my favourite producer right now, I’m playing everything he does and this is MINT! There’s a serious lack of young producers who want to make uplifting vocal house with real instrumentation instead of over using samples, we need more of this!
Jason Herd x Steve Edwards Brothers & Sisters – Bohemian Disco
I reference above, taking it back to how we used to make house, but making a new disco samples with a funky as hell bassline and screaming Saxophones underneath Steve’s amazing preacher vocal. It’s no secret I love Soulfuric and this is a nod to some of their old uplifting club tracks!
Groove P – Alright – Pleased As Punch
Shapeshifters’ new label and I’m loving it! This peak time groover is exactly what I love, driving bassline, percussive, old school vocal and an actual journey. This goes off!
Sonic Soul Orchestra, Mr V, Mishell Ivon – Sueno Latino – Midnight Riot
I still dig out my scratched a shell vinyl of this every now and then, but I love how this Balearic classic has been re visited! There’s so many reworks. but they have to be as good as the original or compliment it at least and this gets a thumbs up from me!
Option4, Rimini Roudette – Rob Da Bank (Josh Butler Remix) Origins
Loving this groovy deep house with Josh Butler grooving the bassline in his typical style that I love. The vocal works a treat and is really hooky, a great track that will please the minimal and house heads alike!
DJ minx & Mr V – We All Famous – Knee Deep In Sound
A peak time house beat driven by that old school chord sound alongside the subtly vocal by Mr V that is an epic journey of house music.
Herd & Fitz x Hannah Wants x Abigail Bailey – I Just Can’t Get Enough – Ministry Of Sound
20 years since its first release and Hannah Wants asks for the parts and it’s back! Her re-rub has been huge in Ibiza the last two years and we are just glad its back for a new generation. There’s also a Jakkob Remix coming soon which has been getting support in DC10 from the likes of Blond:ish.
Next Phase, Helen Brunar & Terry Jones – I Ain’t Got Time (Richard Earnshaw Remix) Sub Urban
For me Richard Earnshaw is one of the best soulful producers out there, you give him an amazing vocal and he will smash it and this is no exception. I can’t say how good this is!
Oden & Fatzo, Poppy Bascomb – Tell Me What You Want – Defected
We need more young producers writing vocal house music for it truly to inspire a generation and these guys see to be leading the pack. A gorgeous hooky vocal over a disco sample with solid driving drums making this a big track for summer 2024.
Juan Kidd – Lucky 13 – Weirdo Recordings
A little house gem that never did anything but grabs attention every time I play it. As you have probably guessed, I like a track to be a journey and this piano led house track grows with a slightly chilled feeling but breaks down to Lucious string and pads for a moment leading into an epic drop. Its these tracks no one plays that define my sets.
