Suntree Records boss and multi-instrumentalist, Oded Nir & drummer and producer Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai) have been great friends for years, often performing together. After their successful collaboration, ‘Hot Mess’, the duo are back with a new single, ‘Alive’ (taken from Oded’s forthcoming ‘Indoor Life’ album), which features Derrick’s daughter Jenner on vocals. This funk track is something I’m very proud of, it’s an all-live track, a studio recording with amazing musicians, from the Jamiroquai band, Derrick McKenzie on drums and Matt Johnson on keyboards, and Massimo Imperatore joined us on guitar. I was listening to a lot to James Brown at the time and wanted to start my new album with groovy funk, working with Jamiroquai’s drummer and keyboard player on a record was a dream come true!

Oded Nir – Sababa Dub (Original Mix) – Suntree Records
Reggae and dub are really one of my favourite genres, I wanted to make a diverse album and Sababa Dub covered my dub needs. It features Amsterdam’s trumpet player Thijs Van Den Geest. ‘Sababa Dub’ is really a layback tune, its probably my personal favourite from my new LP ‘Indoor Life’.

Angelo always makes great tracks, this one is really moving, I love the bass line as well, for me naturally it is an important element, the vocal sample is on point too!
