There are some records that simply drip sunshine, that contain that indefinable factor that evokes shimmering heat, sun rays sparkling off the sea, lazy summer vibes-simply good times. That is undeniably the case with ‘Dance With You’, the latest collaboration between Sunlightsquare (Claudio Passavanti) and the undisputed UK heavyweight of all things soulful – Omar. The pair got to know each other through gigs they played together and at some point agreed on a track together.
When two formally trained musical masters join forces, you can rest assured that the end result will be harmonically rich, melodic and memorable. ‘When Dance With You’ kicks off with it’s funky bass line, electric piano, Moog synth and brilliantly evokes the classic rare groove era comes to our minds, and when the rather special vocal comes in, we know we have a future funky classic in our hands.
On the remix we find US institution DJ Spinna who adds his galactic flavour to the track by serving up a minimalist club focused groove which adds some House twist to the package.
All in all this should be a dominant record for all soulful crowds throughout the summer season.
