Jeremy Barnes’ globetrotter status enables him to paint Phileas Fogg postcards with Dario G’s World Cup brush that used an instrument native to every participating country on ‘Carnival de Paris’. Or, extend a Stella Artois advert to a full-length, subtitled film. A veritable who’s-who of mouthpieces and reeds from across the planet, Barnes mingles with locals in the streets and writes tales of sailors tussling, banditos flinging their sombreros skywards, kossaks doing that version of the can-can they do, and Bollywood speedsters dashing to Oompah crescendos, Lennon-esque laments and accordion boleros. Intriguing – there’s no other word for it.
