Drawn from elements of Broadcast and Plone, Seeland should be on solid ground – and they are. This is no-frills electro pop from Tim Felton and Billy Bainbridge, and it uses the old ‘less is more’ trick to good effect. The formula is simple – good, catchy songs with memorable hooks (‘Goodbye’ especially) and electronic touches around the edges that mean the songs could stand up on their own as instrumentals. Beats are light, and never intrude, while some of the sounds betray the pair’s past, sounding like they’ve been put together on old synths. It’s a good effect, and with songs you can relate to, Seeland are a duo well worth spending time with.
