ALEXANDER ROBOTNIK
MY LA[TE]EST ALBUM
HOT ELEPHANT

The latest album from prolific, pioneering but never predictable Italian producer Maurizio Dami has been inspired by his recent wildly-successful coming out as a shit-hot spinner. He’s embraced many styles in a career spanning over 20 years but this is unadulterated modern dancefloor whoopee. However, its rampant soul and energy comes from the man’s experience. Therefore he’s able to hurl in any major dance music strain you care to mention, including techno, electro, acid house, disco, boogie and even a good solid rave riff on ‘Dublin-Florence-Siena’. ‘I’m Getting Lost In My Brain’ throws in Phuture-style vocals and ‘Acid Magma’ is positively euphoric. There’s a spark, humour and invention here which makes tracks like ‘You Are Fesh’ nothing short of a joyful noise continued into a rollicking cackle on the closing ‘My Battery Is Low’.
