BEATZ & BOBZ VOLUME 4
DREADZONE
FUNCTIONAL BREAKS

Dreadzone have been around so long now that I can’t even remember them not being around! They’ve been part of so many scenes and put out so many tunes over the years it’s hard to put them into any kind of bracket, so I won’t! Their sound has always been centred around a very strong dubby, ‘soundsystem’ influence whether their beats be broken, 4/4, drum and bass or downbeat. What’s highlighted here is their championing of breakbeat in the last couple of years. It’s essentially a journey through heavy, dubby, skanking party breaks from the last year or so with many favourites in there. An aural documentary, if you like, of all the tracks of the afforementioned styles that we’ve all rocked to in recent months. All precisely stitched together and complimented by some well placed MCing from Terminalhead’s Spee. Standout tracks are the ‘heard-it-a-million-times-but-always-love-it’ ‘Put Your Hands Up’ by Scam and the Deekline and Wizard remix of Freestylers’ ‘Boomblast’. Tight mix an’ no mistakin’!
