Booka Shade
More!
Get Physical

After an album where they explored their potential for cinematic writing, Booka Shade have returned to the club with a vengeance. More! is a cracking piece of kit, with no hint of excess production or indulgence – just straight talking, no nonsense grooves with a bit of twisted funk thrown in for good measure. There are just two vocal tracks, but they are perfectly positioned within the album – Dieter Meier of Yello with a detached contribution to ‘Divine’ half way through, then regular collaborator Chelonis R Jones pitching up on the strangely euphoric ‘Bad Love’ some time before the end. Elsewhere it’s straight down to action, with each track blending into the next as if in a live set, with the familiar rush of chords and bass providing several adrenalin bursts. This is Booka Shade back on home ground and in top form, demanding that you not only buy their album but go to see them live this summer.
