Clint Mansell
‘Moon’ Soundtrack
Black Records

It’s not often you read about soundtracks on DMC Update, but this is one that’s worth making a note of. If you’re familiar with the work of Brian Eno you’ll know he did an amazing film sound track for ‘Apollo’, and while it’s silly to expect similar things from Clint Mansell, he’s made a half hour of music that works perfectly late at night. There’s a haunting piano motif that comes back now and then, portraying the vastness of space really well, and while at times the music cuts back to feathery strings, now and then it steps up in the mix with a fuller drum sound. This is the sort of music that works so well as a ‘Back To Mine’ CD, but listen to it closely on wide screen and it’s equally as rewarding. Something different for the late or early hours – under a full moon, naturally.
