DEETRON
TWISTED
MUSIC MAN

Belgium’s Music man label has long been a guarantee of quality techno and provides a suitable place for Switzerland’s Sam Geiser, aka Deetron, to make his long-playing debut. Straddling different musical styles can be a pitfall in albums like this as ambition overtakes ability to deliver, but the class of old school vocal house outings like ‘Let’s Get Over It’ with Justin Chapman is on an equal footing with the gorgeous deep techno of the towering ‘I Cling” and ‘Isotope’. Detroit’s DJ Bone pops up on the sinister acidics of ‘Life Soundtrack’, creating a mood not unlike Phuture while the same city’s Paris the Black Fu from the Detroit Grand Pubahs pops up on ‘The Afterlife’. ‘Silence’ recalls early Nu Groove with the deep house vibe continuing on ‘My Plan’. All through the killer drum programming punctuates and elevates each delicious musical terrain. A stunningly well-rounded debut.
