R&S continues its Masters series with this reissue of a set which first appeared on Derrick’s Transmat label ten years ago Gorgeous, flickering space symphonies characterised by the primitive house rhythms he’d heard Ron Hardy spinning at Chicago’s Music Box mated with the soul of the motor city’s Motown tradition and European pioneers like Kraftwerk and electro-pop figureheads like Depeche Mode. , tracks like Winter On The Boulevard more like a jagged Detroit take on modern European classical music. Tracks like Beyond The Dance and The Beginning still sound like nothing on this or any other planet. Quite simply, the finest body of work in techno.
