A belated mention here for a veritable goldmine of intoxicating exploration. Ellen needs no introduction with her Bpitch Control imprint firing out an almost frightening stream of nuggets, while Apparat is the label boss of Shitkatapult (along with T. Raumschmiere). Together, these two disparate musical personalities concoct a highly-atmospheric blend which can veer between hallucinogenic electro on ‘Floating Points’ to more unusual outings like the evil cello-bass duet of ‘Retina’, which recalls prime 60s drug druids the Third Ear Band. There’s minimal, dub, house and electronic whoopee all popping in to create an overall mood of anything-can-happen. After the opening blast of ‘Turbo Dreams’ – now an amazing single – with its 90s uplifto-house riffs dragged through a juddering sewer, you’ll be hooked anyway. Bpitch freaks will want it anyway so Ellen can’t go wrong. Again.
