The Chillout Lounge series has already established itself as a compilation that dips beneath the surface of standard chillout fare to find some of the gems lurking underneath. This third instalment, chosen but not mixed by ex-Fragile State member Ben Mynott, provides a perfect example of the rewards that can be found, opening up with Prins Thomas’ mix of James Yuill’s ‘This Sweet Love’ and further impressing with Luomo, Clara Hill with King Britt, and Hakan Lidbo’s remix of Q-Burns Abstract Message and ‘Shame’. That’s just CD1 – and it flits between completely horizontal stuff and more house-driven material. CD2 does similar, only this time is further underground – and the likes of Mr Projectile, Low Motion Disco and Dr Meaker keep us occupied. Excellent stuff.
