Philadelphia’s best export is finally back with his much anticipated follow-up to the 2003 classic ‘Philadelphia Freeway’. With The Roc going through its ups and downs it’s hardly surprising there has been a five year absence from Freeway. Anyway he’s back and I can tell you now it’s been worth the wait with what in my opinion is one of the best albums to come from the East Coast for a few years. Okay it lacks those ‘big production’ names that Roc-A-Fella artists normally use like Kayne and Just Blaze but that doesn’t effect the album as beats by Wes, Jake One, Bink and Don Cannon all really hit hard. ‘Roc-A-Fella Billionaires’ featuring Jay-Z is a massive track that samples ‘Hey Big Spender’ by Shirley Bassy that will satisfy all fans of the Roc. Other collaborations include the rather disappointing ‘Take It To The Top’ featuring 50Cent, the Cool & Dre produced ‘Lights Get low’ featuring Rick Ross and the excellent hard-hitting ‘Walk wit Me’ featuring Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss. The best collaboration has to be the Scarface track ‘Baby Don’t Do It’ which cleverly samples “Overture of Foxy Brown” by Willie Hutch. This is Hip-hop music at its best and I feel that this album has been under-promoted because this is one of the best albums of 2007 even though it dropped in November. Play it, rewind it and play it again!
