There’s a fair bit of excited murmuring going on around Glideascope right now, his brand of stylised fusings catching the ears of the more adventurous, particularly those outside of the immediate dance music arena, and anyone who heard his debut release “With Strings Attached” will fully understand why. Glideascope treads that overgrown path of what was once lazily dubbed trip-hop, taking the templates of the likes of Groove Armada and Thievery Corporation, then re-inventing them as his own, adding classical and world music influences alongside more contemporary influences. Tracks to note are the reggae based “Onward Jamaican Souljah”, “Hartronica”, the lovely soulful “Come Back To Me” and the already … er.. big “Big Big Disgrace”. At 18 tracks, it wouldn’t hurt to lose a couple of the alternate takes to make for a leaner album, but even so, this is something a bit special. Acquire.
