GRAVENHURST

WARP

The sound world of Gravenhurst’s Nick Talbot alternates between blissful guitar harmonics and more thrashy, vamped up passages, epitomised in the epic opening track of his second album. Often employing a texture that seems to take its lead from The Cure and other Manchester influences, he also brings his own serenity to the music, with ‘Nicole’ having an appealing inner charm. Meanwhile the huge ‘Song From Under The Arches’ takes on a darker hue, guitars to the fore, while final track ‘See My Friends’ gives the music a timeless feel as it disappears over the horizon. One for the small hours.
