Horace Andy & Ashley Beedle
Inspiration Information 2
Strut

The ‘Inspiration Information’ series is already yielding some fascinating results, and this one is the product of an intense five day period spent in the studios back in September. It works really well, because Horace Andy’s distinctive, instantly recognisable vocals are complemented by Beedle’s sensitive arrangements, that give him plenty of room. Beedle has a solid reggae upbringing that he puts to good use, creating several bugs in the bassbin with his good use of riffs. Andy’s lyrics are a treat as well, with a song about vegetarianism that’s particularly funny, while the songs with more of a protest vibe make an emotional impact. ‘When The Rain Falls’ and ‘Seek It’ fall into that category, while an inventive cover of the Rolling Stones’ ‘Angie’ puts another slant on this partnership. It’s a fresh sounding vibe that these two have created, and is all the more enjoyable for sounding spontaneous rather than overproduced.
