Blasting like a breadth of freshly inspired air Danny Berman aka Hot Coins continues his journey into the sights and sounds of downtown New York sometime around the late seventies/ early eighties. As a homage to the eras more left-field music emanating from city the albums ten tracks draw upon a rich and vibrant heritage starting with the alternative funk of recent single ‘Geek Emotions’ which typifies the scene with direct, deadpan vocals and mid-tempo chunky grooves. It’s worth highlighting that music has been played not sampled which again lends it a strength that is not purely revivalist. The sassy Disco infused New Beat and Roadtrip plus the Talking Heads-esque Blizzard are particular favourites, however with so many people recently rediscovering the past there will no doubt be something for you to uncover anew too.
