IDC
Overthrow The Boss Class
Corsair Records

We’ve said many fine things about IDC over the years – having first heard them make a name for themselves as cut ‘n’ paste alchemists mixing and matching others work, they released their first single, Scratch’ back in 2004 – influenced by the Scissor Sisters and DFA it pushed the boundaries of electro-disco and rocked many a floor. It’s rearranged here as ‘Scratched’ (shame their Fatboy Slim-ish ‘Payola’ or mash of White Stripes with Alter Ego on ‘7 Nation Rocker’ isn’t Ð for the obvious I guess). But there are still more then enough bona fide illicit beats to keep us happy. Like the quirky ‘Stomp’ with throbbing guitar lines and bass rumbling grooves that we previously heralded as a battle cry to raise arms for the future sound of electronic; ditto the equally brain fucking ‘Bolshy Beats’, the glam rock riffs of ‘Boss Klass’ and the Prodigy-esque ‘Akai Elvis’. IDC have made a real niche for themselves – not quite breaks, nor electro, they make the future sound of electronica that computer geeks and cyber freaks can relate to.
