ISOLEE
WE ARE MONSTER
PLAYHOUSE

Some years ago, Isolee quietly released what became a modern day classic, “Beau Mot Plage”.  He followed this with the album “Rest”, and people with functioning ears basked in Isolee’s audio interpretation of the modern world. Then it went a bit quiet, apart from the occasional single and remix, until now, with his second full length recording. “We Are Monster” is at once strange, beautiful, and everything we’ve come to admire about the musical genius of Isolee.  Discordant, slightly dazed, outsider disco-funk, layers and layers of odd shapes and sounds, it often feels as if it’s been assembled from other peoples records in a slightly different order to that originally intended (“Schrapnell” for instance, or the warped, slow melt of a guitar jam “Today”). Jagged and determinedly working the funk in very simple terms, yet as icily soulful as great electronic music should be, this is a tremendous album.  Buy it and cherish it.
