James Yuill
Turning Down Water For Air
Moshi Moshi

James Yuill is one talented guy, and it would be easy to make the mistake, after one track of this album, of thinking he might be a newer take on Nick Drake. If that’s the early judgment then nothing will prepare you for the unexpected blasts of electronica that appear, Yuill’s well written songs going just as well over the odd vibrant house beat as they do over an acoustic guitar – and it’s not many albums that dare to mix the two. Lyrically he’s good as well, so that really what we have is a full package – someone who can sing, emote, and write imaginatively for acoustic and electronic forces. Definitely someone to bookmark.
