Jazztronik is Japanese producer and programmer Ryoto Nazaki, a man with a prodigious musical imagination. refusing to be constricted by style, he writes music that draws from jazz, deep house, Latin and Samba amongst others. It pays off handsomely, the rewards evident in the dancefloor anthem ‘Nana’, the gorgeous French keyboard loop on ‘The Piano’ and ‘Phoenix’, an extraordinary fusion of a trance backing and jazz piano that somehow works. Even at close on 80 minutes it doesn’t outstay its welcome, thanks to the variety on show. Superbly original, this is an exciting album to revisit again and again.
