There aren’t enough true mavericks and characters in electronic dance music with too many opting to retread successful formulas or paths already flattened by the hordes. Brussels-based Jerry Dimmer knows no genres, preferring to take existing music, however diverse, and bang it together in a world of his own. He’s found the perfect home in Kenneth Bager’s Music For Dreams label where he’s been awarded a licence to cavort and wave his sonic underpants around his head. From the Egyptian reggae jaunt of ‘Flavia’ through the languid, twisted summer pop of ‘Always On My Mind’ to cinematic closing credits of ‘You And Me’, the album’s a delight with a hallucinogenic charm all its own.
